Our Mission

Cross and Clouds

Welcome to Oasis of Hope Church Bham, a new church plant in Birmingham, Alabama.

Our mission is to make disciples who transform the neighborhood, spreading God's love by liberating the outcasts, empowering the marginalized, and eradicating injustices in our community.

Our Purpose

We aim to create a Christian community that provides hope, restoration, and vision through Jesus' ministry to all people, especially the marginalized and disenfranchised. We are committed to upholding the values of radical hospitality, risk-taking mission and service, passionate worship, intentional faith development, and extravagant generosity.

We aim to empower and liberate individuals through the Gospel of Jesus, foster healthy relationships, and embrace our African Heritage and culture while upholding the teaching of Jesus Christ.

Our Core Values

Scripture: We prioritize the study of Scripture in our corporate and personal lives. Our approach to Scripture is rooted in prayer and critical reflection through the lens of Black Liberation Theology(-ies) and other interpretive frameworks that uplift and empower marginalized communities. (2 Timothy 3:16-17)

Teaching & Preaching: We provide a teaching and preaching ministry that is both pastoral, prophetic, communal, relevant, spirit-empowered, exegetically, hermeneutically, and culturally sound while addressing the spiritual and physical conditions facing our church and community.

Worship: We practice worship that uplifts God as creator and justice-bearer, Jesus Christ as ultimate redeemer, and the Holy Spirit as one who empowers and transforms.

Relationships: We demonstrate healthy relationships based on an abiding love for God and the God-like image in which humanity is created. (John 13:34-35; Galatians 6:2; Genesis 1:26-27)

Prayer: We prioritize unceasing prayer based on humility, reverence, and dependence on God for guidance, strength, and emotional and physical healing. (Matthew 7:7-11).

Outreach: We engage in radical outreach, serving as change agents in our neighborhood and meeting the needs of those disenfranchised and powerless.

Leadership: We practice servant-leadership, which is based on the model of Jesus as a servant to his people. We value servant-leadership, which consists of various ages, cultures, male and female, that provides vision and empowerment. (Mark 10:41-45; John 13:12-17)
